Model UN Conference

Thursday May 10, 2012
9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Are you fascinated by international relations, a political junkie or involved in a Model UN organization? Join this student led day (by the Model UN Organization at Western and King's), meet Political Science profs and persons involved in politics at various levels.

This one day conference will be fun and interactive. The ceremonies will involve a keynote speaker to set the tone and help to frame the day. Following the Sessions of Debate, there will be dinner and an awards ceremony to acknowledge the winners.

Students wishing to participate can sign up alone or in teams. Following the close of registrations they will be assigned a country and will need to prepare by researching assigned topics. Participants will be expected to debate, deliberate, consult and then develop solutions to some of the problems addressed in the Model UN. While students are preparing for the conference in May, faculty members from the Politics department at King’s will make school visits in March and April to mentor the students in their preparations.

On-line registration for the conference will begin on Feb. 10, 2012 and will close on Friday, March 25, 2012.  Students from Grade 11 and 12 are invited to participate. Once we have the total number of delegates, countries and topics will be assigned by the Model UN organizing committee and they will notify the delegates so they have the opportunity to prepare. Please click on King's Model UN to see hilights of last year's Model UN Conference and to register for this event.
