"I have worked in Hong Kong, London and Toronto. From marketing to fundraising to managing client accounts, my career is dynamic, but has always been devoted to helping others. When I reflect on where I’ve been and where I am now, I recognize King’s as my foundation: a foundation that drives me to develop a critical yet positive approach to work and life in general. My profs at King’s have encouraged me to strive for more and live with the mantra, “when you get out of your comfort zone, you give yourself opportunity to change and grow”.
“Being involved and making a difference in your community is key. At King’s I got involved through Intramural Hockey, Orientation, Western’s Senate and became President of King’s Student Council. A friend from King’s introduced me to Sapphire (formerly CNC Global) where I am a Technology Recruiter (Top Recruiter of the Year). My core values and ability to judge character have helped me to grow. I recently reflected on my charitable involvements and realized that I feel most strongly about the causes that affect people I know personally. This is why I joined the rock solid team “The Ride To Conquer Cancer”. In June 2010, I will ride 200 kms from Toronto to Niagara Falls in two days. I hope to raise $6000 to help eliminate cancer.”
“A liberal arts education teaches students to think and to learn. Through the course of my educatin at King’s I was able to improve my written and verbal communication skills. In addition, I learned how to analyze and solve complex problems. Each of those skills has proven to be transferable- both in law school and in practice. In fact, in the practice of law, I rely on those skills every day.
"A few years of volunteering in Africa and India increased my appreciation for life and simplicity. I continue to learn from people who are so oppressed by the culture of capitalism. The Social Justice and Peace Scholarship and several initiatives working for peace and justice in London were influential in my decision to choose King's over all other universities."
"Being a student athlete at Kings was an enjoyable experience. The atmosphere that King's creates for their athletes makes it easier to excel in both academics and athletics. The professors are supportive and the academic counsellors work countless hours making sure that the athletic and academic timetables don’t conflict."
